Hello!



My journey with my weight has been a defining role in my life. Since early childhood, I have been overweight, and this imprint has often defined “who I am”. With Yoga and a more holistic approach to health, I have found more balance, tools to help me quiet the negative imagery of who I am and what I can and cannot do as well as options for more healthful choices. Entering a Yoga Studio can be intimidating to women who are overweight, and in this class we are all here to do and feel our best as we are. In my Abundant Body Yoga classes, I hope to facilitate a wonderful community to practice Yoga safely and to receive all the benefits it can provide no matter our size.




 
 

My husband, Scott, and I opened Sweet Pea's Studio in April of 2002 and I gave birth to our daughter, Eve, the following spring. We welcomed our son, Nathaniel into our family with a beautiful homebirth in 2006. Sweet Pea's Studio was named "best escape for moms and babies" by Chicago Magazine. I have been practicing massage therapy for over 20 years, specializing in Bodywork for the Childbearing Years since 1996. I received Level Two Yoga Teacher Certification through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in 1997, and I have also worked as a labor support and postpartum doula. I am a member of ABMP. My work with prenatal and post partum women has helped me understand how to work mindfully and safely with bodies in change and often limitations. Abundant Body Yoga came from my desire to support women who have limitations in their bodies due to extra weight and to provide a class  just for them.
